The citizens' initiative 'My voice, my choice' advocating for safe and accessible abortion in the EU has gathered over 1 million signatures, surpassing the required thresholds in 15 countries. Led by the 8th of March Institute, the initiative calls for the European Commission to ensure access to legal abortion services for all EU citizens. The European Parliament has shown support for including abortion access in the EU's Charter of Fundamental Rights, but unanimous agreement from all member states is needed for it to be binding. Health Commissioner Hadja Lahbib emphasized the need for equal access to abortion across EU countries.
