The European Union is launching the AGILE program to enhance defense innovation, investing €115 million in advanced technologies like AI and drones. This initiative aims to expedite the transition from research to real-world application, addressing the slow pace of current EU defense funding models. AGILE will support startups and SMEs, allowing for faster funding cycles and reduced administrative burdens. The program is expected to improve operational readiness for EU armed forces and strengthen security for citizens. However, it still requires approval from the European Parliament and the Council before implementation.
