An appeal trial in Paris is underway for four men convicted in the 2020 beheading of teacher Samuel Paty, who was murdered by an Islamist radical after showing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. The attackers and accomplices are appealing their sentences, with discussions around freedom of expression laws and the role of hate speech in the incident. The trial is set to continue until February 27.
