An archaeological excavation in Egypt has uncovered 18 ancient tombs from the Roman and Ptolemaic periods near Marina El Alamein. Among the significant finds are gold foils placed in the mouths of the deceased, known as 'golden tongue' amulets, which were believed to allow the dead to communicate with the underworld. This discovery highlights the historical importance of the site, once a thriving city, and adds to the total of 44 tombs identified since its discovery in 1986.
