The Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have disconnected from Russia's electricity grid and joined the EU's network, a move seen as crucial for European security, especially after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. EU chief Ursula von der Leyen and Polish President Andrzej Duda praised the transition as a historic step towards freedom and security. Concerns about potential Russian retaliation and sabotage incidents in the region were also highlighted.
