Four Italian divers missing in the Maldives have been found dead in a 60-metre cave, following a scuba diving accident. A fifth diver was recovered earlier, and a Maldivian rescue diver also died during the search. The incident is considered the worst diving accident in the Maldives, a popular tourist destination. The divers were studying climate change impacts on biodiversity, but the cave dive was not included in their research proposal. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
