José Manuel Barroso, former president of the European Commission, expressed serious concerns over Hungary's alleged sharing of confidential information with Russia during EU meetings. He emphasized the need for Hungary to clarify its contacts with the Kremlin and suggested potential exclusion from certain matters if clarifications are insufficient. Hungary's Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, acknowledged regular communication with his Russian counterpart, which Barroso found troubling. The situation raises questions about loyalty among EU member states, especially given past incidents involving Hungary and NATO. The EU has called for clarification from Hungary amid ongoing sanctions against Russia.
