Chinese officials unveiled plans for the world's largest solar farm on the Tibetan plateau, covering 610 square kilometers. China's rapid installation of solar panels has led to a 1% decrease in carbon emissions in early 2025, suggesting emissions may have peaked ahead of the 2030 target. However, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, emissions must decline by 3% annually. The solar project, which will power 5 million households, also positively impacts the local ecology. Challenges remain in electricity distribution and reliance on coal.
