Around 1,000 residents from a Colombian border village have fled to Venezuela due to escalating guerrilla violence in the Catatumbo region, which has resulted in at least 80 deaths. The conflict involves the National Liberation Army (ELN) and former FARC members, with over 18,000 people displaced. Community leader Jaime Botero reported fears of firefights, while Colombian President Gustavo Petro suspended peace talks with the ELN, accusing them of war crimes. The UN condemned the violence and called for a halt to attacks on civilians. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
