Commerzbank plans to cut 3,900 full-time positions by 2028 to enhance financial stability, while maintaining a constant global workforce of 36,700 through hiring in selected areas. The layoffs will mainly impact staff in Germany. Despite this, the bank reported a record net profit of €2.68bn for 2024, with revenues rising by 6%. The announcement comes amid a potential hostile takeover bid from UniCredit, which holds a 28% stake in Commerzbank.
