Roxana Mînzatu, the European Commission Vice-President, expressed her commitment to eliminating poverty in the EU within 25 years during an interview with Euronews. This follows the introduction of the EU's first anti-poverty strategy aimed at eradicating extreme poverty and social exclusion by 2050. Currently, around 92.7 million people in the EU are at risk of poverty. The strategy includes various initiatives, such as supporting disadvantaged children and tackling homelessness, but lacks a dedicated budget. NGOs have criticized the strategy for its lack of concrete legislative proposals.
