In 2024, Hungary ranked last in the EU on Transparency International's corruption index, scoring 41 points and placing 82nd globally. This reflects a decline in public perception of corruption, despite previous anti-corruption measures. Hungary's corruption perception is now comparable to countries like Burkina Faso and Cuba. The report highlights systemic corruption, ineffective reforms, and significant economic consequences, with Hungary's economic performance lagging behind other EU states. Major corruption cases continue to emerge, although some progress has been made in tackling petty corruption. Teljes cikk (Telex.hu)
