Nuclear states have increased their production and deployment of nuclear weapons, marking a concerning shift in global security dynamics. The annual Nuclear Weapons Ban Monitor report indicates that nearly all nine nuclear-armed states are expanding their arsenals, with a total of 12,187 warheads combined. This rise in deployed warheads raises risks of escalation and accidental use, amidst ongoing armed conflicts. Despite fewer nuclear weapons than during the Cold War, the erosion of disarmament efforts and the lack of participation in the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) by nuclear states highlight a troubling trend.
