Tonino Picula, the European Parliament's rapporteur for Serbia, sparked controversy in Serbia with a social media post commemorating the 30th anniversary of Operation Storm. His tweet, featuring a photo of him in military uniform, led to calls for his removal from office. Critics, including Serbian opposition leader Dragan Đilas and Austrian MEP Harald Vilimsky, condemned the post as inappropriate and damaging to diplomatic relations.
