MVRDV and Zecc Architecten plan to transform the St Francis of Assisi Church in Heerlen into a public swimming pool called Holy Water. The design will maintain the church's character while introducing an adjustable pool floor, allowing for various uses. Visitors can enjoy the stained glass windows and repurposed church pews as seating. The project aims to creatively repurpose vacant churches for social functions, with completion expected in 2027.
