Europe's five largest defence spenders (Poland, France, Germany, Italy, UK) launched the LEAP initiative in Krakow to develop low-cost drones and autonomous platforms, drawing on lessons from Ukraine's war. The programme aims to create cheaper alternatives to expensive air defence missiles. Defence ministers discussed the need for rapid adaptation to changing warfare technologies and prepared for the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.
