A French court sentenced eight individuals to prison for their involvement in a hate campaign that led to the murder of schoolteacher Samuel Paty in October 2020. Sentences ranged from three to 16 years. The campaign was fueled by false social media claims about Paty's teaching. Abdoullakh Anzorov, a radicalized Muslim, murdered Paty and was killed by police shortly after. The trial focused on those who supported Anzorov, including the schoolgirl's father, Brahim Chnina, and radical activist Abdelhakim Sefrioui.
