Eight South Korean students were detained after attempting to unlawfully enter the Osan Air Base during a protest against the US military's presence in South Korea. The protest was organized by the Korean Progressive University Student Union, which argues that the US military's activities could hinder a major chipmaking project in Gwangju. The students are currently under investigation by the Korean National Police.
