The UN report highlights that ongoing conflicts and disruptions in energy markets could exacerbate global hunger, potentially affecting over 500 million people by 2030. The rising costs of energy and fertiliser, driven by conflicts such as the Iran war and the Ukraine invasion, are significantly impacting food prices, particularly for small-scale farmers. To combat these challenges, investments in resilient food systems and infrastructure are urgently needed, especially in Africa, which faces the highest food security challenges.
