The European Commission is looking to accelerate the implementation of 5G security measures to protect communication networks from foreign interference, as stated by Commissioner Henna Virkkunen at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The EU aims to enforce the 5G Cybersecurity Toolbox adopted in 2020, which includes restrictions on high-risk suppliers like Huawei and ZTE. Despite some measures, fewer than half of the EU member states have imposed legal restrictions on these suppliers.
