The European Commission has withdrawn a proposal on Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) to facilitate a broader agreement, as stated by EU Industry Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné. The rules on SEPs were previously agreed upon by the European Parliament in February 2024. The withdrawal surprised many, as the Commission aims to improve transparency and efficiency in SEP licensing.
