Kaja Kallas, the EU's top diplomat, emphasized the need for increased EU defense spending to prepare for potential threats from Russia. She highlighted that Russia could outpace the EU in weapon production and called for a collective investment of at least €500bn over the next decade. The EU currently allocates around 1% of its GDP to defense, while Russia spends 9%.
