Ari Aster's latest film, set during the COVID pandemic, is a dark comedy that critiques modern society through the lens of a small New Mexico town. The story follows Joe Cross, an asthmatic sheriff dealing with personal and societal turmoil, including conspiracy theories and civil unrest. The film explores themes of government distrust, social justice, and the impact of digital culture, ultimately presenting a tragicomic snapshot of a divided America. Despite its overstuffed narrative, it is Aster's funniest work to date and may become a cult classic.
