The president of the WTTC emphasized the need for the EU to reduce bureaucracy to support the growth of the travel and tourism sector, which is projected to contribute nearly €1.9 trillion to the EU GDP by 2025. The sector created 24.6 million jobs, accounting for 11.5% of all jobs in Europe. Despite concerns about inflation, the sector is expected to grow, although Spain faces backlash against overtourism. The WTTC calls for better communication between governments and local communities to ensure sustainable growth and highlights the need for Europe to adapt to increasing competition from Asian countries.
