The European Commission accused Teva of misusing the patent system to extend patent protection for its MS drug Copaxone by conducting a disparagement campaign against Synthon, its only competitor in Europe. Teva plans to appeal the decision, which includes a €462.6m fine, claiming the Commission's legal theories are extreme and unsupported.
