Manfred Nauman, an 80-year-old resident of Leipzig, was found guilty of murder committed for base motives, as emphasized by Judge Bernd Miczajka. The crime was orchestrated by the Stasi, where Nauman, as a former major, shot and killed Polish citizen Czeslaw Kukuczka in 1974. Kukuczka attempted to force his way to the West with a bomb imitation. The court found Nauman guilty, but he will not serve time until the verdict is final.
