Hungary's proposal to use digital facial recognition at Budapest's Gay Pride march has raised concerns about violations of the EU's AI Act and data protection laws. MEP Brando Benifei argues that the use of biometric cameras for identifying peaceful protestors is illegal unless linked to serious crimes. Experts, including EU law specialist Tamás Lattmann, agree that Hungary's regulations breach the AI Act. The legality of using facial recognition will depend on whether it's applied in real-time or post-event, with strict conditions for real-time use. The EU's AI Act, which regulates AI tools, came into force last August and will be fully implemented by 2027. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
