Five senior MEPs have urged the European Commission to take action regarding severe threats to the integrity of Hungary's parliamentary elections. They express doubts about the elections being free and fair due to disinformation, foreign interference, and intimidation of journalists. The letter highlights potential Russian interference supporting the ruling Fidesz party and mentions the targeting of investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi. The MEPs call for a public assessment of the election integrity and urge the Commission to expand infringement actions against Hungary for media freedom violations.
