A new Palestinian militia called the Popular Forces has emerged in Gaza, claiming to protect humanitarian aid from Hamas and asserting they have Israeli support. Led by Yasser Abu Shabab, the group has faced violent retaliation from Hamas, which has killed over 50 of their members. While some Israeli officials see the Popular Forces as a potential counter to Hamas, critics argue they are merely a criminal gang. The situation in Gaza remains complex, with ongoing humanitarian crises and the challenge of finding a credible alternative to Hamas.
