A woman buried over 2000 years ago in the Altai Mountains has become the focus of an archaeological tattoo study. Her tattoos, previously thought to be invisible, were revealed using advanced imaging techniques. The tattoos depict animals and mythical creatures, showcasing a unique art style of the Pazyryk culture. The research indicates that tattooing was a widespread practice among this society, not limited to elites. Dr. Gino Caspari aims to create a publicly accessible inventory of these tattoos.
