In February, false videos circulated on X and Telegram using Euronews graphics to spread misinformation about Ukrainian refugees and athletes during the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. Claims included Ukrainian refugees robbing a Euronews crew and vandalism by Ukrainian fans, both of which were unfounded. The videos are part of a coordinated influence campaign linked to Russian actors, identified as the 'Matryoshka' operation, which has previously targeted the Olympics. The campaign is smaller than previous efforts, focusing more on Ukraine.
