Ähtäri Zoo in Finland will return two giant pandas, Lumi and Pyry, to China eight years early due to financial constraints linked to inflation and Covid-related debt. The zoo spent €1.5m annually on their upkeep and over €8m on their enclosure. Despite the pandas thriving, the Finnish government rejected funding requests, leading to the decision to send them back. The return is seen as a business decision, not affecting Finland-China relations. Teljes cikk (bbc.com europe)
