Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is poised to be elected mayor of Davao while in custody in Europe for trial at the ICC. Despite facing accusations of crimes against humanity, he received around 500,000 votes, significantly outpacing his rivals. His son Sebastian is expected to take on mayoral responsibilities in his absence. Duterte's daughter Sara, the current vice president, is discussing legal strategies with her father's lawyers. The Duterte family performed well in the midterm elections, with several candidates allied to them leading in Senate races, which could impact Sara's upcoming impeachment hearing.
