France has returned three ancient artefacts to Ethiopia, including two stone axes and a stone cutter, in a ceremony led by French foreign minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The items, dating back 1-2 million years, were part of a larger collection at the French embassy in Addis Ababa. Barrot also announced a €7 million initiative for preserving Ethiopia's heritage, including the renovation of Lalibela's cave churches.
