Caroline Grandjean, a 42-year-old headteacher in central France, committed suicide after enduring nearly two years of harassment related to her sexuality. Her death prompted an investigation by the French Ministry of Education. Despite reporting the harassment, including homophobic graffiti and death threats, Grandjean felt unsupported by the educational system. Her tragic decision on the first day of school has sparked outrage and highlighted systemic failures in supporting teachers, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community.
