French director Christophe Ruggia was found guilty of sexually assaulting actor Adèle Haenel when she was underage. He received a four-year sentence, two years suspended, and will serve two years under house arrest. Ruggia must pay Haenel €15,000 in compensation and €20,000 for therapy. Haenel, now 35, accused Ruggia of manipulating and abusing her during the filming of his 2002 movie. She left the courtroom to applause from women's rights activists. Ruggia denied the allegations and plans to appeal.
