France's former interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, has apologized for blaming Liverpool fans for the 2022 Stade de France incident during the Champions League final. He admitted that security measures were inadequate and acknowledged that the real issue was not English supporters but local delinquents. Darmanin's comments about the general state of violence in France drew criticism from the opposition, and he hinted at his political ambitions for the future.
