Recent excavations at the former institution for unmarried mothers and their children in Tuam, County Galway, have uncovered an additional 22 sets of infant human remains, raising the total to 33. The site gained attention in 2014 when historian Catherine Corless revealed numerous death certificates without burial records. Forensic analysis is ongoing, and the excavation, which has revealed a disturbed burial ground, is expected to continue until 2027.
