Canada is strengthening energy ties with Germany amid an ongoing energy crisis exacerbated by the Ukraine war and Middle East conflicts. An agreement will be signed with Germany’s SEFE group for the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Ksi Lisims facility in British Columbia, which will supply up to 1 million metric tonnes annually. This represents about one-eighth of Germany's LNG imports last year. Germany, having reduced reliance on Russian gas, continues to seek alternative energy sources. The economic outlook for Germany has weakened due to energy market instability, while Canada aims to expand its non-US trade.
