Starting Wednesday, visitors to the Trevi Fountain in Rome will face a two euro charge to manage tourist flows and protect the site from overcrowding. The initiative, led by Councillor Alessandro Onorato, aims to generate up to 20 million euros for improving tourist facilities. While some support the measure to limit crowds, critics argue that public spaces should remain free. This decision reflects a broader European trend of cities regulating access to iconic sites to mitigate mass tourism effects.
