The Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, which suffered a devastating fire in 2019, is set to reopen on December 7, 2023, with President Macron attending. Despite initial skepticism about the reconstruction timeline, the reopening is approaching. However, the process has faced challenges, including the death of General Georgelin, who oversaw renovations, and controversy over Macron's plan to replace original stained glass windows with modern designs, which has sparked significant opposition. Additionally, a proposed entrance fee for visitors has been met with resistance from the Diocese of Paris. The cathedral has also received new bells ahead of its reopening.
