Hiroshima commemorated the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing, with aging survivors expressing concern over the increasing acceptance of nuclear weapons globally. Minoru Suzuto, a 94-year-old survivor, emphasized the urgency of sharing their experiences as the number of survivors dwindles. Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui warned against military buildups and the potential consequences of nuclear policies. The memorial service was attended by over 50,000 people, including international representatives, and featured moments of silence and calls for a world without nuclear weapons.
