HIV Spreads in Ukraine, Increasing Infections Among Children

Ukraine has the highest HIV prevalence in Europe, driven by internal and external migration due to war. An estimated 220,000 people are infected, with a significant rise in cases among young people and heterosexual individuals. The war has worsened the situation, with increased risky behaviors and drug use contributing to the spread. Domestic violence and sexual exploitation have also risen, further increasing vulnerability to HIV. The healthcare system's collapse complicates testing and treatment efforts.
