Daniel Guerra, a Brazilian sailor, sees a job opportunity to sail across the Atlantic as a dream come true. He and fellow recruit Rodrigo Dantas meet their employer, George Saul (nicknamed 'Fox'), who seems friendly and supportive. However, during their journey, they discover nearly 1.2 tonnes of cocaine hidden on the yacht, leading to their arrest and a 10-year prison sentence in Cape Verde. Despite their claims of innocence, they are convicted, while Fox escapes prosecution. Their families campaign for their release, which is granted in 2019.
