Italy is investigating the restoration of a cherub in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Lucina that resembles Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The diocese of Rome and the culture ministry have launched probes after the resemblance was reported. Meloni humorously responded to the controversy on social media, while critics argue that sacred art should not be exploited. The restorer, Bruno Valentinetti, denies using Meloni as a model.
