Cliona Ward, a 54-year-old Irish woman with a green card, was detained by ICE based on a supposedly expunged 20-year-old criminal conviction after visiting her ailing father in Ireland. Despite having lived in the US for over four decades and being clean for two decades, she was handcuffed and shackled during her detention. Her sister, Orla Holladay, is raising funds for her legal defense. Congressman Jimmy Panetta criticized the detention as unacceptable, while Ireland's government is providing consular assistance.
