Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy's largest bank, plans to cut 10% of its workforce, totaling around 9,000 jobs, to reduce costs and accelerate digital transformation by 2027. The cuts will be voluntary, with 2,000 jobs affected internationally and 7,000 in Italy, including early retirements. The bank aims to save €500m annually from 2028. Additionally, it will hire 3,500 young employees by next June. The bank is collaborating with the European Investment Bank for a €500m counter-guarantee to support wind energy projects.
