Italy has passed a bill criminalizing couples who seek surrogacy abroad, following a debate in Parliament. The bill, presented by Carolina Varchi of the Brothers of Italy party and supported by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, extends an existing surrogacy ban from 2004. Italians seeking surrogacy in countries where it is legal could face up to two years in prison and fines up to €1 million. Opposition parties criticized the legislation, calling it unreasonable and discriminatory, particularly against same-sex parents. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
