A recent US study shows that people with HIV can safely receive kidneys from deceased donors with HIV, potentially reducing wait times for organ transplants. The study followed 198 kidney transplants and found similar survival rates and low organ rejection between recipients of HIV-positive and HIV-negative kidneys. This practice, which began in South Africa in 2010, has been expanding in the US since 2013. Experts believe this could improve organ availability for all patients. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
