Henna Virkkunen, the EU Commissioner for technological sovereignty and security, spoke at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona about the need to apply the 5G security approach to other technologies. The Commission will investigate how to accelerate the implementation of 5G security measures to protect critical communication networks from foreign interference. The 5G cybersecurity toolbox was adopted in 2020, and member states have agreed on restrictions against high-risk suppliers like Huawei and ZTE due to security concerns. Virkkunen expressed dissatisfaction with the current results and proposed strengthening the security of undersea cables after incidents in the Baltic Sea. Teljes cikk (Portfolio.hu)
